THERMO Wood Cladding
THERMO Wood Cladding is a beautiful wood material produced using natural methods and can be used for interior and exterior applications. Above all, it is stable, resistant to decay and non-toxic. Only steam and heat are used during the manufacturing process. THERMO Wood is an eco-friendly natural product which is easy to machine and install. The THERMO Wood process respects the natural properties of wood. The production process is based on the gradual thermal modification of wood, where in the chemical and physical properties of the wood undergo permanent change.
THERMO Wood Cladding is a modified timber and has achieved a durability class rating of 2 according to BS EN 350-2 which allows for a long service life (30 years plus for THERMO Wood Cladding) without the requirement for any further treatment. The timber will turn a silver grey colour if left to weather naturally.
Our THERMO Wood Cladding has being modified using Finnish grown red wood with a density of 510kg/m3. After the modification process the timber is slightly lighter in weight.
Our THERMO Wood is sourced from well managed forests and is legally verified.
The timber does not require any further treatment and can be left to weather to a natural silver grey colour. However, if the natural colour of the timber is to be maintained this can be achieved on site by using a UV protection oil like OSMO 420D
The heat modification process enhances the timbers stability meaning it will not twist or warp like unmodified timber.
THERMO Wood Cladding is easy to work with both hand or machine tools. The timber glues and finishes well.
We recommend to only use stainless steel screws for your project.
Thermal processing makes wood slightly more susceptible to splitting. For this reason we recommend using self-tapping screws with a coarse thread or pre-drilled holes before fixing. The screws should be stainless-steel and suitable for fastening wood.
N.B. Iron-based fasteners can stain and discolour the wood, especially in the presence of moisture.
